Midalia Steel is proud to have pledged $1,500 towards the ‘Rediscovering the Old Railway Line History of Northam’ Project. This initiative, spearheaded by the Northam Town Team, aims to celebrate the rich history of the old railway line that once traversed through the heart of the town.
The donation from Midalia Steel will specifically go towards the purchase of 21 steel sheets, which will serve as the baseplate for a striking train art mural. This mural will adorn the back of an old building, breathing new life into the space while paying homage to Northam’s railway heritage, which dates back to the late 1960s.
“We are immensely grateful for Midalia Steel’s generous contribution to our project,” expressed Juana Paynter from the Northam Town Team. “This donation not only helps us materialise our vision but also underscores the power of community partnerships in revitalising our town’s cultural heritage.”
The chosen site for the mural is strategically located just 100 metres from the bustling Northam Boulevard Shopping Centre and a mere 200 metres from the Northam Visitor’s Centre and Bernard Park on the Avon River. This central location ensures that the mural will serve as a vibrant focal point, drawing locals and visitors alike to engage with Northam’s history.
The project, which will engage local artists, historians, and community members, seeks to create a visually captivating experience that celebrates Northam’s past while invigorating its present. Through a combination of murals, signage, and gardening, the initiative aims to transform a mundane space into a dynamic cultural hub.
“We are thrilled to be part of this initiative,” commented Nick Szekeres from Midalia Steel. “Supporting projects that enrich the community and preserve its heritage aligns with our values as a company. We look forward to seeing the transformation unfold and contributing to Northam’s vibrant cultural landscape.”
“We are deeply appreciative of Midalia Steel’s support,” concluded Juana. “Together, with partners like Midalia Steel, we are excited to embark on this project.”
